Church: Holy Name of Mary Church

In the late 1800's most of the Catholics were railway employees of Latin and Greek rite. The missionaries visited the community of Broadview from Marieval Mission in the Qu'Appelle Valley. They made the long journey by Red River cart. There was no church for the services so they were held in private homes. In 1904 a small church was built and Mass was said only about once a month. Arou! nd 1915 Broadview was accepted under the St. Hubert's Mission and the priest from there, Fr. Borreau, visited the area often. It gradually developed into a parish. The church was then moved and an addition added. In 1934 Archbishop McGuigan appointed Fr. A. Ryan as the first resident priest and it became a parish. A new church was built in 1939 but was destroyed in a fire on Thanksgiving day in 1945. Work started on a new church and was completed in 1946. Soon after, the Rectory was built. Two missions, St. Joseph's in Whitewood and St. Columbine in Grenfell, were attached to the parish at this time.
In 1978 Father Benoit, resident pastor from the Sacred Heart Parish at Marieval, came to serve our parish. He encouraged us as a parish to build a hall onto the church to promote and house parish activities. The construction started in the fall of 1983 and the hall was open for the children's Christmas concert. Archbishop Charles Halpin blessed the hall on April 7, 1984, congratulating everyone for their spirit of co-operation and unity. Father Benoit semi-retired in 1985 and went to Winnipeg to serve with the retired and elderly priests. Father Joe Suroviak came after him to serve us for the next eleven years. Due to the shortage of priests, Sister Theresa Kreiser then led our parish followed by various priests, many from other countries. Currently Father Francis Plaparampil, Father Rick Krofchek and Father Vitalis Azike serve us.

The Sister's of St. Martha opened a hospital in Broadview in 1936 and became a vibrant addition to the parish. The Sister's of St. Joseph's came in the fall of 1978. They gave much of their time and effort to religious instruction and keeping the parish running smoothly. The Sisters left our Parish in 1993.
The parish is still a busy parish holding coffee after every Mass and parish brunches once a month. The Altar Society still fund raises for the needs of the church and sponsors charity works such as supporting a needy family in India.
Although small we hope to keep the Parish a vibrant and supportive place for Christians together.

Church: St. Paul's Lutheran Church

Sunday School  -  1:00 p.m.

Church Service -  2:00 p.m.

St. Paul's Lutheran Church started in 1914 as a tri-parish of Grenfell-Oakshela-Broadview. As the years went by the congregations had expanded and there was a need for a larger building. The Armouries building was purchased in Broadview and was remodeled by volunteers from the members of the church. A re-alignment was done in October 1960, as Grenfell became a parish with Windthorst and Moosomin joined Broadview and Oakshela. In 1964m Oakshela closed the doors of their church and members transferred to Broadview. Broadview and Moosomin are a parish to date.

Church: Grace Canadian Lutheran

In 1956 the Swedish Lutherans Living in the Broadview area formed the congregation. The Edenland congregation new Kipling had dissolved and they donated their church to the new Broadview Congregation.

Eric Abramson of Kipling built the pulpit, Baptismal Fount and the Altar Table and Olaf Pearson built some of the pews.

Pastor Carlton Larsen is the present Pastor, and does the services at the Christ Lutheran in Kipling and also at the Grace Canadian in Broadview.
